On Thursday 23rd of May we will present the results of the Interreg project MariGreen, Maritime Innovations in Green Technologies, at the final conference that we are organizing together with MARIKO GmbH. We would like to invite you to celebrate this moment with us. 'Besides the plenary program with interesting panel discussions on cross-border cooperation and energy transition in shipping, the 12 subprojects will present their results on the Innovation Market with prototypes and pitches. There is ample opportunity to discuss the project results with the experts.
German-Dutch cooperation as a driver for innovation in shipping
MariGreen's objective is to contribute to the GreenShipping development through technical innovations and to strengthen the innovative capacity of regional companies. An essential condition for the realisation of the MariGreen project is the cooperation that has developed in recent years in the German-Dutch border region. The challenges for the maritime economy on both sides of the border are very similar, although there are also differences in maritime structures and competences. More general information about MariGreen and the 12 subprojects can be found here.

Since 2009, the INTERREG project MariStart has for the first time systematically explored the maritime potential on both sides of the border. The aim was to determine whether there were sufficient interests and themes to embed German-Dutch maritime cooperation more structurally. The result was the development of a number of cross-border research and development projects for the shipping of tomorrow, realised by new German-Dutch maritime consortia from industry and science. Since 2009, these innovative activities have mainly been combined in the INTERREG IV project "MariTIM - Maritime technologies and innovations, model region Germany/Netherlands". The MariTIM project, which was successfully completed in 2015, served as the basis and starting point for the development of MariGreen.
Project organisation and funding
The MariGreen project is coordinated by Lead Partner MARIKO GmbH in Leer and co-partner FME in Groningen. The project is funded via the Ems Dollart Region of the European Union’s INTERREG program.
