D2IA is excited to share that the new UNITE Brave NATO programme has just been launched. This new Ukraine-NATO Innovation, Technology and Engineering (UNITE) programme is the first joint NATO-Ukraine programme on scaling prototyped and tested innovative technologies that help meet interoperability requirements.
D2IA and OPS are working hand-in-glove with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine & BRAVE1 as equal partners in UNITE Brave NATO. NATO funding for the programme has been approved as a new long-term Comprehensive Assistance Package (CAP) project – with 2026 contributions projected to total EUR 25 million. The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine has committed to match this funding for a joint impact of EUR 50 million next year.
To begin with, the first UNITE Brave NATO competition will dedicate a total of EUR 10 million of contract awards to teams of Allied and Ukrainian companies collaborating on innovative solutions to strengthen air defence and counter unmanned aerial systems. Companies may already register their interest at the NCIA’s Notice of Procurement Opportunity page – which has also been shared with national delegations. We encourage delegations to distribute this opportunity via their outreach channels, sharing that Allied companies may also already identify Ukrainian counterparts with whom they would submit joint project proposals when solicitation formally begins in February 2026.
The full project information has been distributed to the PCSC earlier this month. In addition, D2IA and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine have briefed NUC(IHC) and NUC(DSSC) on this exciting new effort.
Nations are very welcome to make contributions to UNITE through the CAP. As a reminder, nations' contributions to the CAP count toward the 3.5% commitment Allies made in The Hague. Thank you to those nations that have already indicated forthcoming contributions.
We look forward to getting UNITE off the ground to both learn lessons from the war and help meet urgent Ukrainian needs. Thank you in advance for your contributions and for your assistance spreading the word about UNITE Brave NATO.
